Winston Churchill (Part 1) An ambitious young man
Churchill, an intelligent but unruly child, grew up starved for affection. At 18, he joined the army, seeking recognition and glory on the battlefields. During the Second Boer War, a conflict in South Africa, Churchill sought to shine and make a name for himself. He then entered the political arena, becoming a Member of Parliament. Quickly disillusioned with the Conservative Party, he joined the Liberals and helped lay the foundations of the welfare state in Great Britain. During the First World War, after a resounding strategic failure, Churchill resigned from the government.
