Evangelion Shinkansen train shown to media
West Japan Railway Co. unveiled a shinkansen train painted in purple in the image of a giant human-type weapon in the TV animation series "Neon Genesis Evangelion" during a press event Monday in Fukuoka Prefecture.
The 500-series shinkansen train will make a daily round trip between Shin-Osaka and Hakata stations on the Sanyo Shinkansen Line from Nov. 7 to March 2017 to commemorate the 20th anniversary this year of the beginning of the TV broadcast of the series.
Passengers who make reservations will be able to enjoy a game at an Evangelion cockpit and exhibition within the train.
"We hope not only anime fans but other people will have fun on the train trips," an official of JR West said.
