Ingredients:
8 slices of bread
1 cup milk
2 eggs
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 tablespoon honey
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
Maple syrup, for serving
Fresh fruit, for serving
Instructions:
In a shallow bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, cream, honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg (if using).
Dip each slice of bread in the egg mixture, turning to coat both sides.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Melt the butter in the skillet.
Add 2 slices of bread to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
Repeat with the remaining bread.
Serve immediately with maple syrup and fresh fruit.
Here are some tips for making cinnamon honey French toast:
Use day-old bread for the best results. Fresh bread will be too moist and will not soak up the egg mixture as well.
Don't overcrowd the skillet. If you add too much bread to the skillet, it will not cook evenly.
Cook the French toast over medium heat. If the heat is too high, the bread will brown too quickly and will not be cooked through.
Serve the French toast immediately. It will not be as good if it is allowed to sit for too long.
Enjoy!
