Grain and oilseed market in Kazakhstan 2023: bans, restrictions, quotas
Recently, the concept of a free market has become a thing of the past in the world. A number of countries have introduced or are planning to introduce certain import and export restrictions on the supply of agricultural products.
Speaking of grain, the measures that Kazakhstan is taking, restricting the import of wheat from the Russian Federation, may seem excessive to some, while others, on the contrary, are confident in their timeliness for the protection of domestic farmers.
In addition to grain, the issue of oilseeds remains open. The introduction of an export quota was supposed to become a tool for the channel for selling Kazakhstani sunflower for export to form a fair price on the domestic market. But given the fall in world prices for sunflower, the current duty of 100 euros does not stimulate the industry.
Is it time for producers and processors to agree on acceptable principles of work and offer these tools to the government? Is it necessary to introduce state accounting of grain?
