Digimon World 3 (Digimon World 2003 in Europe and Australia), is a role-playing video game for the PlayStation developed by BEC and Boom Corp. DW3 is the third instalment in the Digimon World series, released on the PlayStation 1 in late 2002. The game tells the story of Junior and his friends Ivy and Teddy, who log into "Digimon Online". Soon after arriving, the players are trapped in the game by an error in the system. With his Digimon, Junior has to explore the Digital World and figure out how to get out.
Digimon World 3 differs from its predecessors was been changed to be more like Japanese Role-Playing games of the time. The game has 2 primary modes in which it is played: an overworld map and the battle screens. The player character navigates through a 3D world map using sprites that represent the playable character and the monsters that make up his party. In battle, players control the parties with up to 3 monsters in turn-based style battles where the player's party fights one on one against the opposing party, with the option to switch or perform certain actions with the party members.
Although we have played through Digimon World 3 before, it has been a hot minute. I hope you enjoy the playthrough! Interested in more Digimon games? Feel free to Subscribe.
DW3 on Duckstation:
Graphics can be upscaled on Duckstation to x5 Native (1080p), with most other settings left on default.
Under 'Scaling', you can also check 'PGXP Geometry Correction'.
To reduce the 'Blue Loading Tiles' found throughout DW3, hit ESC whilst playing DW3, go into 'Game Properties', click the 'Console Settings' tab in the horizontal row of icons at the top. Under CD Rom Emulation - change 'Read Speed' to 4x (8x Speed) & 'Seek Speedup' to 8x.
For a smoother fps during battles, hit ESC whilst playing, 'Game Properties', find 'CPU Emulation' and check 'Enable Overclocking'. Then set the Overclocking Percentage higher (200%+).
