One of my favorite uses for the EOS M is taking advantage of Magic Lantern's FPS Override feature. It allows me to capture an in camera time-lapse. It’s also relatively easy to do and you don’t need much. Just a tripod and dash of patience mostly. You can set the FPS manually to achieve different effects based on what you're shooting.

(UPDATE: You have to click on older builds and download one of the older ones. The one I use is from February 19th. BUILD: magiclantern-Nightly.2015Feb20.EOSM202.zip Changeset: 36ff475)

10fps prevents most blur.
6fps is a good median if you want some blur from fast moving objects)
1-3fps is great for most clouds.
Anything less is pushing it and is good for very slow things like melting ice.

This is a fixed 52mm ND and it will fit most standard 50mm lenses (the most common lens). It's really affordable, albeit limited to 52mm threads.
