"The legacy of ownership in society was fraught with centralization, trust, might-is-right force and security issues. Making the community the owner is at the heart of web3 - users will own their data; the ecosystem communities own the platform and the code is open. Advocates of Web3 have hailed a new standard of smart contract accounts that decentalize ownership as an alternative to the past legacy ownership, bringing new kinds of value of faster and transparent community coordination, flexibility and ultimately, trustless security.
My talk will take a deep dive into the limitations of legacy forms of ownership:
It will unpack the definition and enforcement of ownership as we understand it in society across physical, social and legal implications.
From this understanding I will expand on how Web 3 and smart contract accounts can provide better frameworks for the future of all value coordination, making it trustless, faster, more decentralized, inclusive and ultimately scalable.
Specifically it will address how multi-sig and smart contract accounts are critical to ensuring DAOs and decentralized projects become mainstream and gain wider contributions and value while keeping a standard of security.
Some notable recent developments and phenomena are enabling like squads, flashDAOs and trustless decentralized collaboration around the world.
