Meet Hillary Lister, an amazing woman who shows just how incredible the strength of the human spirit can be. Hillary is a record-breaking quadriplegic sailor from Kent, England who suffers from the progressive condition ‘reflex sympathetic dystrophy’. On August 31, 2009 Hilary sailed into the history books and became the first disabled woman to sail solo around Britain. She is only able to move her head and sails using sip-and-puff technology for steering and sails. Hillary came to meet the team and see the Team SCA boat here in Gothenburg. It was an absolute pleasure to meet Hillary, her optimism, sense of humour and positive outlook on life was very humbling to witness. For us she is the definition of an amazing women and we salute her.
