speed-test is the latest feature that is owned by Mikrotik and began to exist on devices that use RouterOS v6.44 and above.
this speed-test feature for the time being there is still no GUI on the winbox or webfig, so if we want to use this speed-test feature we have to work on the Command Line Interface or Terminal.
This speed test method is somewhat different from the previous testing method. The router does not only test one direction, but consists of two directions using two protocols at once, namely TCP and UDP. In addition, the speed test will also determine the processor and packet loss that occurs when testing occurs. This speed test is a combination of ping tool and bandwidth test. And for now, it can only work with fellow microtics.
This speed-test feature is actually a combination of ping and bandwidth-test tools that are already in the proxy. DUT (Device Under Test) must keep the bandwidth test server active so that the speed-test works properly. If the DUT device has a user name and password, there are additional commands.
The results released from this feature are not actually the throughput you have. There are still many parameters that can increase the decrease in bandwidth that is passed like CPU Load or other features such as queues and firewalls. Because basically the router has the concept of passing packets, not for packet purposes such as when testing occurs.
