The golden rule of eating, according to the Sunnah, is moderation—avoiding overeating. The quantity and quality of food consumed directly impacts our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Excessive food consumption is a direct path to obesity, which can lead to countless health problems, including heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and even cancer. And the main prevention of these diseases is a proper approach to eating.
The Sunnah is to limit food portions so that there is just enough to replenish strength and maintain good health.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Never did a person fill a worse vessel than his own stomach! A few morsels of food are enough for the son of Adam to maintain his strength, and if it is unavoidable for him to eat more, let a third of his stomach be for food, a third for drink, and another third for ease of breathing."
