Use the Spacing Effect if you are preparing for an upcoming test! Use these tips:
✅ If your test is 1 week away: you benefit most from study sessions 12-24h apart
✅ If you are preparing for a test in 6 months: study every 20 days
✅ If you want to remember something for 5 years: revise every 6-12 months
The advantage of the spacing effect is that you need substantially less time overall to memorize something if you spread your study into multiple sessions as opposed to if you study everything in a single session.
Also, letting your brain forget some information between sessions engages your memory associations and will help cement information in your memory.
💁🏻♀️ MY TIP:
Mix in old materials when learning new subject matter! Look at your notes from a couple of weeks ago and try to find connections to the new subject matter.
That way, you won’t forget what you learned earlier.
