Sony ICF-S10MK2 AM/FM Pocket Radio
A Sony AM/FM pocket radio model ICF-S10MK2. I've had this radio for many years, some of my earliest memories of listening to music are with this very radio back in the early 2000s. I don't use it much anymore, but I recently got it out to use in the car as the vehicle's radio has failed and is not economical to repair or replace at this time.
The unit is operated of 2 AA batteries and has an exceptionally long battery life. It can receive AM or FM stations and has quite a strong pickup for the size and form factor. It has a singular mono speaker on-board as well as a headset jack, which I'm not sure if it can output stereo or not.
The audio quality is reasonable in the mid and high range spectrums, but realistic expectations need to be applied considering the size when referencing the bass spectrum. It's not very loud, it can't go much at all above normal conversation volume before the sound starts to distort, but for personal applications the volume is usually adequate.
This was under production for quite a few years, and was only discontinued recently. There is still some stock remaining on Amazon, and there likely will be for many years to come as the retail price at the time of this filming is an absurd $249.99.
I'm not sure why the testing with my FM transmitter was such poor quality, I've used that transmitter many times with quite a few different radios and never had an issue. Typically the volume can go louder than it was during the tests and still not distort.
