Catching My First Topwater Speckled Trout Was Not Easy
This topwater speckled trout fishing trip in the Louisiana marsh is one I won’t forget… especially after losing a giant.
We launched into the saltwater marsh chasing a topwater bite and threw a Super Spook Jr. around shallow grass and points. Early on, I hooked into a massive speckled trout—but lost it. After that, I stayed persistent and eventually landed my first ever topwater trout, along with a few more solid fish.
This was my first topwater trout, my first topwater fish ever, and even my first flounder—all in one trip.
