Paddling Deep Into the Marsh to Fish at Daybreak | Here's What Happened
Today, I kayaked out into the Louisiana marsh before dawn to watch the sun rise and immerse myself in a full day of saltwater kayak fishing, nature exploration, birdwatching, and wildlife observation. My adventure began with some early morning redfish fishing, where I managed to catch two nice redfish on a gold Johnson spoon. The highpoint of the day came when I almost landed what felt like an even bigger redfish on a topwater popping frog-though it managed to get away.
As I paddled through the marsh, I tried my best to take in the sights and sounds of nature, including spotting a decent-sized alligator that slipped under the water before I could get close enough for a photo. Being on the water in my kayak as the sun rose was an incredible experience, even if getting out there in the pitch black was a bit sketchy. Louisiana's marshes truly are a beautiful place to experience nature, especially from a kayak!
