These off-brand Wii remotes with built-in motion sensing look like a great deal until you actually try one.
Getting right to the point, their tracking with the sensor bar is just terrible.
It jumps and drifts all around, and it’s hard to even get it to show up on the bar when you’re pointing directly at it.
You can see this clearly when no one is touching it and it’s still jumping around.
However, the internal motion sensing itself isn’t completely awful.
It works okay for some games, but it can be inconsistent, especially when timing really matters.
The buttons feel cheap and press in further than the official controller, which isn’t great.
That said, for simple games like New Super Mario Bros that mostly rely on button presses, it works fine.
For most Wii games though, this controller just isn’t worth it.
There is one off-brand Wii accessory that actually makes sense, and that’s the plug-in nunchuck.
It came bundled with the controller and works surprisingly well.
It’s a bit stiffer than the original, but it even works with an official Wii Remote.
If you’re going to go off-brand, this is the only part I’d actually recommend.
