I bought a 128GB SSD for under $15, and it turned out to be way more interesting than expected. Not only was it insanely fast for the price, but when I opened it up, I discovered it was actually an old SSD inside adapter—likely pulled from an old machine and repackaged. So, are these cheap SSDs just recycled drives being sold as new?

I picked up 128 SSD for less than $15
and naturally I was curious why it was
such a good deal so upon opening it I
ran a quick speed test and I was hitting
over 300 megabytes per second which is
by far the fastest I've ever seen on my
computer in fact at that price I'm just
glad it works at all but I soon learned
there was more to this than I thought
when I looked at the drive's details and
it showed up as a Samsung hard drive
with my curiosity growing I opened it up
and surprise inside was an m.2 solid
state drive sitting in a 2.5 SSD adapter
after taking a closer look I could just
barely make out some worn down writing
on it but it confirmed that it's in fact
a Samsung SSD now judging by how worn
down the writing is and given the low
price I started thinking maybe all these
cheap 2.5 ssds now on the market are
actually just old drives pulled from
something like an old computer plugged
into an adapter and being marketed as
new if that's the case I'm not sure how
to feel about it on one hand it's a
reliable brand with Incredible speeds
but on the other hand if it's been used
it most likely won't last as long so
what do you think am I on to something
here and if I am would you still spend
your money on one of these
