The JUUL C1 electronic cigarette is the latest way JUUL plans to prevent underage teens using the company's vapes. To do this, an app working with the new C1 device will use facial recognition software and a background check to verify the vaper is over 18 years old.
There are also reports that Juul might also use geo fencing technology to prevent people from vaping in specific restricted areas like at a school.
Users will have to send their driver's licence or government ID to make use of the biometric lock. That's why the critics of the JUUL C1 say that using biometrics violates users' privacy and are uncertain these features will do much to prevent underage vaping.
