Using evidence in stakeholder engagement and capacity building
On December 6, 2017, researchers supported by the Innovating for Maternal and Child Health in Africa (IMCHA) program held a meeting with MNCH stakeholders to disseminate their preliminary findings on the utilization of maternal health services in Torit, South Sudan and Gulu, Uganda which are considered fragile contexts. The meeting which was held in Torit, Imotong State, South Sudan provided a platform for candid discussions on how best to encourage the utilization of maternal health services to reduce the deaths of women and children. Further, a four-day training to enhance the research skills of the Torit, South Sudan team was held on December 4-8 where 25 members drawn from the Ministry of Health and Torit State Health facility were trained. The knowledge acquired will go a long way in engaging more people in research work. In addition, the value of research in providing solutions to health challenges will also be appreciated.
