In this tutorial, we take a look at how you can draw inside existing objects and shapes in Adobe Illustrator, with your host Adobe Instructor, Gary Bradley.
This little-known technique is easily missed via a mode at the bottom of the Tools Panel. All of the techniques in this tutorial are non-destructive and can be re-edited at any point in the future.
Once you have drawn inside of your selected object, you can then add a fill or stroke colour of your choosing. Try not to set the appearance first before you draw as you will most likely change the appearance of the object you are drawing inside of. Re-edit the inside object by either editing in isolation mode or by selecting the shape with the Direct Selection Tool.
