A New Look
We are part of a society obsessed with "The new look." We spend billions of dollars every year on all kinds of “age defying” lotions and treatments :
And I admit it. I’m have been caught up in the obsession. I colored my hair from age 37 to 50. I also used to try to hide my bald spot. Now that my grey has come in nicely it makes the bald spot less visible.
During the pandemic I let my hair grow long and I loved it. Last year I decided to cut it shorter. I still try to take care of my hair. Maybe It would be better if I didn’t care so much….
What is it about new looks? Think about what kind of new look you’ve recently gotten or one you wish you could have. You don’t have to tell anyone. Just spend a moment thinking about it. When you’ve done it, how have people reacted? If you did do it, how do you think people would react? What’s your reason for wanting that new look?
We’ve been imagining together what kinds of updates are necessary, what ones are helpful, and what ones can wait here at PMC. I know that we really do need to have some updates done here for safety, accessibility, flexibility, and beautification. I also think that it’s kind of funny that as a society and as people we’re obsessed with getting a new look - and at the same time we want all the things that we’ve determined should be unchanging to either never change or to go back the way they were. In many ways we are a people who want new energy, new passion, and new life -- without ever having to change at all.
