Teaching Pride and Prejudice
This video is an introduction to the Pride and Prejudice curriculum unit from our Literature Plus program. Here, we combine Jane Austen's classic novel Pride and Prejudice with a variety of different readings, from an overview of Regency era England, to excerpts from Aristotle and Plato.
You might be wondering what Aristotle and Plato have to do with Jane Austen, but Pride and Prejudice is a novel of ethics and presents all kinds of different behavior, asking the question of how one should act.
The Literature Plus curriculum takes classic works of literature and groups them together with historical and philosophical readings to add context. This allows your student to connect the dots, and really make these works come alive.
You get everything you need to teach the greatest works of the Western Tradition to your middle and high school students, with activities, quizzes, discussion and writing prompts, along with teacher guides and summaries of the works.
