Dry ice is a solid form of carbon dioxide, which is a gas we breathe out and plants use to make food. Dry ice is super cold, way colder than regular ice you might put in your drink. It sublimates, that is converts directly into gas at -109 F! 🥶 When you add some hot water, dry ice starts vaporizing really fast. This produces a lot of water vapor which rapidly builds up pressure inside the tumbler and rushes through a tiny hole in the cap, turning your cup into a geyser.
