This video shows a simple test to verify the accuracy of the iDrumTune iPhone app. Logic's Test Oscillator plugin is used to generate sine waves which are played through a set of high quality Dynaudio speakers and recorded by iDrumTune. This video shows that iDrumTune is the most accurate tool for tuning percussion instruments utilising an advanced and intelligent algorithm to ensure that when it says your drums are tuned to 100 Hz, or A2, or C3 or whatever, they actually are.
The test shows that iDrumTune is accurate to 0.5 Hz. Mathematically this is a significant result, as it is not actually possible to measure a two second sound file to an accuracy of greater than 0.5 Hz. This is owing to the fact that a Fourier transform of, for example, 88200 samples recorded at 44100 Hz (i.e. two seconds worth of data) will yield a frequency transform of 44100 data points over a range of 0-22050 Hz, i.e at a resolution 0.5 Hz and no less.
So you can be sure that iDrumeTune is as accurate as any drum tuning software ever could be.
