LOSE YO JOB "THE NATIONAL ANTHEM FOR 2020" (LYONS RE-EDIT)
The vocals in the hook of this remix are by Johnniqua Charles. Charles was getting arrested at the height of all the police brutality protests. While being detained, she just busted out in song. A policeman on the scene, Julius Locklear, captured it on video and uploaded it to social media. From there it got downloaded, and musicians DJ Suede the Remix God and iMarkkeyz applied the banging beat to it. When Biden was declared the winner of the 2020 presidential election, a clever selection of clips of dancing Democrats was applied to the track (the author of this step is unknown).
Ultimately, this was a truly serendipitous sequence of political events and creative actions by numerous creators online with each step *furthering the product* (I.e., the hive mind's impulse to remix and transform is beautifully at work). I loved this process so much that I just had to re-edit the recent low resolution version of the mix with my collection of the clearest original video sources and some clips of politicians I considered to be more appropriate to the theme, all in the effort to continue the trend of modifying and adding to what came before. This remastering step is important, as the expressive facial features are more prominent (for more on image quality, see: https://copyright.gov/1201/2015/comme.... I have completed works with these intentions in the past, most notably my clip-by-clip painstaking re-edit of Chris Morris' Bushwhacked 2, (available here: • Bushwhacked II (2003/2013) ) which uses high quality visuals from C-SPAN to replace the very low resolution version of Morris' initial BBC edit.
