Transcript:
These are my speech topics for ESL or EFL students. The first one is show and tell. So show and tell is not just for kids, but adults love it too. Adults can bring in a little something special from home, or for something big like a piano, or something living like a cat or dog, they can bring a picture and then do a short little presentation about their special thing. I love to also encourage follow-up questions, so getting students to ask follow-up questions. Or, I can ask some follow-up questions as well.
The second topic I have is current events. I've done this presentation project lots of times in my classes before. I let students choose any topic that they want. I say anything that's in the news lately, like in their country, or around the world. They have to say why they chose it, why is it important, and what is their opinion about it.
The third speech topic is: if I were president, what would I change? The next idea is a bucket list. What things does someone want to do before they die?
The next speech topic for ESL is, if I won the lottery, what would I do? So you could say a certain amount a million, $5 million, $10 million, whatever you'd like. And then some of the next ideas are kind of popular debate topics.
Students can choose a side and then give some supporting arguments. The first one is school uniforms, are they for or against? Or, animal testing, what do they think about animal testing? A less common debate topic is: teachers are underpaid. Do you agree or disagree? I personally love this topic because I think teachers are in fact underpaid. So what do your students think about that? The next one is plastic: is it harmful for our world? Should we ban all kinds of plastic? Is it convenient? What do your students think about that? And the final topic is a classic one: cats versus dogs. That's it for my speech topics for ESL or EFL students.
