GLIDE! is a song that I used for some coursework-based exams in music:
the exam board gave stimuli of a set of notes, pictures, and lyrics
So I took a look at them, the notes that I tried weren't the best (at least in my opinion), there were two pictures, I believe one was a rainbow, and then there was a set of lyrics:
The stars are bright
In the moonlit sky
The fact you love me
I don't know why
These moments are precious with you by my side
Let's stay together in life as we GLIDE!
Initially, I thought it was very cringe and cheesy, so instead of going for the lyrics I went for the rainbow photo, and a month afterwards I realised that no good inspiration came out of the rainbow, so with reluctance, I went back to the lyrics. Someone I knew pointed out that they may have been cheesy on their own, but with a good verse and good delivery, I could get away with it. You may realise most of my songs are not love songs, it was probably because I had some emotional pattern/blockage when it came to making these types of songs. But once I got past that initial blockage, the love songs that I did make were really good.
Let's talk about the melody in the verse because it may sound really REALLY familiar and catchy at the same time, that's because the "thought it really mattered but I realised" melody drew inspiration from Miley Cyrus' "Flowers",
The "You Love Me Don't Need to Know Why" is inspired by The Kid Laroi as I think that he may use that type of melody,
And finally, I rickrolled you by saying "If I never give you up, if you never let me down" if you didn't realise.
This is my first ever song where I used the crowd effect in the bridge, I might use it in more upcoming songs, it takes a while to do though.
