2020 Durantou stable: La Chenade, Les Cruzelles, Montlandrie and Saintayme
To celebrate the release of the 2020 Durantou stable we bring to you a short special from our call with the utterly charming Noémie and Constance Durantou. Eglise Clinet, one of Pomerol’s most sought after stars is produced in miniscule quantities, but their four other properties spread among the neighbouring appellations are a brilliant way to enjoy their winemaking style.
This is very much a family operation, the sisters having taken over the running of the estates after their father’s untimely passing last year, with long-term winemaker Olivier Gautrat and their mother, Marie Reilhac Durantou, at their side.
Their energy and warmth are irresistible, as they talk informally of “Dad” and his legacy. He saw himself not so much as a vigneron but a gardener, tending the soil and building something for the next generation.
