Spectroscopy: interaction of light with matter
Have you ever wondered why the sky is blue? The answer is based on the interaction of light with matter. One of the effects that occur when light interacts with small gaseous molecules of air is Rayleigh scattering. The blue light is scattered, changing its course and it's scattered as it encounters more and more particles and thus we perceive the blue color of the sky.
