Does TempDB actually get dropped and recreated , Proof !!
One thing that every database administration knows about this system databases is the fact that temp database gets dropped and recreated everytime SQL server restarts. In this video I demonstrate that the files related to temp database is not actually deleted from the underlying hard disk by using command prompt and windows APIs to show you the file creation times for each file. This is an interesting use case as the Microsoft documentation mentions that the database is dropped and recreated when actually the files remain the same and only the objects within the files get dropped and recreated so if you are a windows administrator temp database doesn't actually get recreated and if you're a database administrator they do. This doesn't really make any difference in the long term or even in the job description however it's interesting scenario for how the wording adds some ambiguity to what actually happens.
