How to use a Texture gun like a pro - it's easier than you think
By request I am adding the "how to" texture gun part of video as a stand alone video.
This is REALLY easy, one of the easiest DIY money savers in home repair. You will only practice for maybe 5 minutes before you say to yourself "people get paid to do this?" You can get one just like the one I used in the video for $25 at your local Harbor Freight.(no, they don't pay me for this, I just appreciate a good deal). I got mine on sale, and also had a 20% coupon, I paid about $14 for it.
I use 50(ish) PSI and the smallest tip in the box for almost everything. If it looks too heavy, turn the air up a touch or thin the joint compound a little more. If it looks too light... go the other way. Don't turn the air pressure up any more than you need, adjust your joint compound instead. I never, ever go over 60.
Practice different settings outside on a piece of cardboard, the mess will clean up with a hose in nothing flat. If you miss a spot and it dries completely... it will still clean up easy with a hose and maybe a touch of rubbing.
During the 5 minutes you are waiting before rolling the new texture take the hopper (big white part) and tip (little screw on part on the front that texture comes out of) apart after use and clean them and the inside of the gun. Joint compound washes off super easy with plain water(in the sink if your wife isn't looking). Squeeze the trigger when putting the tip back on after cleaning, it takes the pressure off the tip and makes it easier to thread together.
