The IELTS band descriptors seem to be a mystery. It is the one and only document that the IELTS examiners will use to score your essay, so why are they so difficult to understand? I mean,
🤔 what does it mean to have a "clear position" in Task Response?
😬 what is coherence and cohesion?
😵 what does range and accuracy mean in terms of grammar?
😣 and why don't they just say "vocabulary" instead of lexical resource"?
Today, Shelly will go through each of the four IELTS band descriptors to help you to understand what exactly they mean. More importantly, she will explain the consequences that the descriptors have for the way that you organise and approach your essay.
After all, the IELTS band descriptors are the ONLY thing the examiner will consider when marking your essay. So, if you are not satisfying them fully, you may find yourself with a much lower score than you deserve (which, sadly, is a common experience).
Don't give the examiner the chance to take points from you! Learn about the IELTS bend descriptors to give yourself the best chance of a high score!
