Generic Ozempic on the Horizon!
Recently, the USPTO agreed to review one of the challenged patents held by Novo Nordisk, makers of Ozempic and Wegovy. The challenge comes from Viatris, generic drug manufacturer, claiming that an earlier publication already proved the validity of the dosing regimen to treat type2diabetes in this particular patent.
We won't know the USPTO's decision until Oct of 2024 BUT it's still great news as it gets us one step closer to generic semaglutide which increases access and affordability of this life-changing medication.
