This Stirling engine uses neodymium magnets to control the piston's back stroke. The third magnet above the displacer balances forces to minimize friction in the glass cylinder.

All the pistons are made of graphite. The master cylinder is made of a test tube. The engine parts are made of brass and aluminum. As fuel, it uses isopropyl alcohol.

Stirling engine - a thermal machine in which the working fluid, in the form of gas or liquid, moves in a closed volume, a kind of external combustion engine. It is based on periodic heating and cooling of the working fluid with the extraction of energy from the resulting change in the volume of the working fluid. It can work not only from burning fuel, but also from any heat source.
