Phrasal verbs are a fundamental aspect of English grammar. They consist of a verb followed by one or more particles, usually prepositions or adverbs, which together convey a specific meaning. These particles can completely change the meaning of the verb. For example:
Look up: To search for information.
"I need to look up the definition of this word."
Take off: To remove something quickly.
"Please take off your shoes before entering the house."
Turn on: To activate or start something.
"She turned on the lights as soon as she entered the room."
Give up: To quit or surrender.
"Don't give up on your dreams."
Go on: To continue or proceed.
"The concert will go on despite the rain."
