Completing a dissertation involves two phases – selecting and conducting the research or study exercise that provides the content of your work and then writing the text that explains your project and its outcomes.
This video will help you do this by exploring the starting points of the process as you identify the topic of your study, and by presenting ways in which you can develop your material organically to produce a text that is both well-constructed and written in the style expected at university level.
The presenter, Dr Kathleen McMillan, has extensive experience of helping undergraduate and postgraduate students write up their dissertations across a range of disciplines including the arts, social sciences, engineering, the natural and physical sciences, and medicine. She has also authored and co-authored several books that support students in developing the study and writing skills required at university.
