Our association with Bharati research station in Antarctica has begun three years ago and continues to grow from strength to strength. We maintain life support systems at Bharati research station. TechBean is the only Indian company who maintains research station in Antarctica.
Antarctica, the southernmost continent is a virtually uninhabited, ice-covered landmass.Antarctica on an average is the coldest, driest and windiest continent with heart-warming scenarios. In the winter Antarctica doubles in size due to the sea ice that forms around the coasts.

Dakshin Gangotri..the very first research station started in 1983 by India & followed bySecond station “Maitri” in 1989. Latest addition “Bharati”, highly equipped research station and one of the most advanced station in the world started in 2012.
We are delighted to share that TechBean is the primary company, responsible for monitoring, controlling and maintaining life support systems at “Bharati”.We maintain these systems for safe, secure and comfortable environment inside the station. So scientists can work seamlessly.
Our service at “Bharati” includes the water systems for fresh water and waste water treatments, Combined Heat and Power Generators for power and heat requirement, Air Handling Units for circulation of air, sea water intake for fresh water and fuel farm for fuel requirement of entire station. To work efficiently we maintain the state of the art building management system and various other similar subsystems.
The fresh water requirement of the station is met by converting sea water into fresh water with the help of Reverse Osmosis process. Reverse Osmosis process separates Fresh water from sea further it is treated with UV rays and chemicals to make it safe for drinking and other domestic uses.
The waste water is divided in two parts. Grey water and black water. Grey water is the Bathroom water. Our systems filter this water with the help of membrane and further it’s treated with UV rays. This treated water is used in toilets for flush.
The second part of waste water treatment is Black water. Black water is the toilet water. This water is treated with membrane bio reacted (MBR) process And with help of Microorganism and decomposition process in black water solid waste and water is separated. Solid waste is shipped back and Filtrate is discharged in sea. We maintain the quality of Filtrate discharged into sea as per the international standards given.
Combine heat and Power plant (CHP)generates electricity and heat for daily consumption at station. The Aviation fuel stored in thefuel farm is pumped and stored in smaller fuel tank in CHP. These tanks maintain Auto fuel level. Engine and alternator in CHP produce thermal Energy and electric power for station. The thermal energy is by product of engine heat and is used for all the heating applications at the station.
Heating ventilation and air condition system. Air in Antarctica is cold and dry. HVAC use cold air from outside, passes it through various stages of heating, heat recovery systems and filters. Further this air is humidified to remove dryness of air. And finally air is circulated in station for use.
BMS is the Building management system,it works as control panel for all systems in the station. We manage all these systems.The data from BMS is collected as logs. These logs are used for troubleshooting.
