Analysis Views (Card) | Dimensions in Business Central
💁Agenda of the Video▶️: To share the idea and the concept behind the logic of the creation of any Dimension Analysis View Card in Dynamics 365 Business Central.
📣Benefits are, you can create Dimensions Reports using the ERP System and send it to Excel for Data Analysis or take a print-out for filing reports.
✍️Take an Example: If you are using Employee as a Dimension and want to see individual employee's expense record including total expense as overall sum.

🧑🏫 "Dimensions" are also commonly known as "Profit Centers" and "Cost Centers".
▫️In Dynamics ERP, we have Two (2) main variety of the Dimensions -
🌿[1] Global Dimensions = 2
🌿[2] Shortcut Dimensions - it includes, 2 Global and 6 Shortcut Dimensions (Total of 8).
▫️In Short, Dimensions spell as DIM also. You may distribute your Cost/Expense, and Profit on the basis of Used Dimensions in your Dynamics ERP System.
🧑🏫 Concept of Dimensions:
Dimensions are attributes and values that categorize entries so you can track and analyze them.
🧑🏫 Best Uses of Dimensions as Profit Centers-
🌱(1) Dimensions can indicate the Project 'or' Department an entry came from.
🌱(2) Instead of setting up separate General Ledger (G/L) Accounts for each Department and Project, you can use Dimensions.
💥An Analysis by Dimensions Report displays a selected combination of Dimensions. You can store and retrieve each analysis you have set up. The information for setting up an analysis is stored on an "Analysis View Card" to simplify future Analysis.

▪️Concept of Designing of "Analysis View" Cards, give us the ability to reach into system provided Dimensions, the two (2) "Global Dimensions", and its also included the full list of Dimensions Values, allowing us to combine any six (6) "Shortcut Dimensions".
▪️BUT, in the first 2 Shortcut Dimension Fields, inbuilt system will only store/capture 1st & 2nd Global Dimensions, this is reserved, based on the Order, Invoice and related Documents/Page/Headers & Transaction Lines Concept.
▪️We can show/represent these "Dimension wise Analysis View", using any Account Schedule (for Financial Reporting purposes).
▪️If you don't want to use an Analysis View, you'll still be able to get your "Global Dimensions" as available in the Dynamics ERP System.
