📍 In this video, I'm in Faisalabad, Pakistan! I'm sharing a completely unfiltered and authentic local experience with you on the bustling and chaotic streets of this city.
I start my day with Pakistan's famous morning culture, having breakfast with hot milk tea and freshly baked 'Paratha' and 'Roti' bread from the streets. However, a quiet morning is hardly possible on the streets of Faisalabad. While eating amidst the city's intense chaos, I'm shocked to see chickens being slaughtered and cleaned in the open right next to me. This is truly a place where everything is intertwined, hygiene is largely disregarded, but the energy of life is high.
Continuing my street food tour, I taste salted corn cooked in sand and dive into the traffic on one of Asia's famous Tuk-tuks. However, as a tourist, especially a beardless man, navigating these streets is not easy at all. The constant stares I receive in front of shops and amidst the crowds, and a frustrating incident I experienced afterwards, really drove me crazy! Trying to cope with misunderstandings and persistent attitudes, I realize once again how challenging the streets of Pakistan can be.
At the end of the day, I escape this chaos and take refuge in the home of Adnan, who hosted me through Couchsurfing. I'm sharing with you the traditional Pakistani home life, the spicy local breakfasts, the culture of entering the house with shoes on, and those interesting moments when the whole family takes turns eating in the same bed.
