Comethazine began pursuing a music career in 2015.[5] His rapper name alludes to a combination of cocaine and promethazine; Velazquez's nickname growing up was Cocaine because he was light-skinned compared to the rest of his friends.[15]
Early in his career, he released songs that were lyrical, similar to Joey Bada$$' style.[5] After not getting too much attention, he decided to make his music more "ignorant" and started getting noticed.[5] He eventually gained other influences, including Nipsey Hussle and Lil B.[13]
He has gained fame on SoundCloud, earning over 30,000 followers as of February 2018.[11] He has accused ohtrapstar of blatantly stealing his "Piped Up" lyrics for his song "Choppa."[5]
In the fall of 2017, while working as a mechanic, he received a call offering him a trip to New York City. While on the job, he left work and flew out to meet with Alamo Records the next day.
In November 2017, Comethazine signed with Alamo Records.[18]
He is expected to release a mixtape BAW$KEE in 2018.[20]
Instagram Verification
While he was in New York, Comethazine ordered cheese fries from a food stand. After telling a friend to record his complaint about melting the cheese better on his fries and post it as an Instagram story, several people perceived it as rude and reported him.[15]
After refreshing his page, he realized that the blue checkmark on his Instagram was removed.[15]
