Under the Eleventh Five Year Plan of India (2007-12) The Ministry of Railways started constructing a new Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) in two long routes
1. Eastern dedicated freight corridors (EDFC}
2. Western dedicated freight corridors (WDFC}
EDFC :-
The Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor Start From Ludhiana in Punjab to Dankuni in West Bengal
Total length:- 1873 KM
Note:- 56% complete
WDFC :-
Western Dedicated Freight Corridor Start from Jawaharlal Nehru Port in Mumbai (Maharashtra) to Dadri in Uttar Pradesh
Total length:-1504 KM
Note:- 60% Complete

Budget of 2021-22 announced
1.East West DFC :- 2000 KM
2. North South DFC:- 975 KM
3.East Coast DFC: 1115 KM
4. Southern DFC: 892 KM
