Roughly a year after it debuted in America, Malcolm in the Middle was ported over to UK terrestrial TV, taking pride of place in the schedules at 18:45 on Fridays, right after The Simpsons. A fearsome double billing. Assorted continuity surrounding the show in its first year of BBC broadcasting is presented here, recorded between March and August.
First broadcast on BBC2 on 6th April, this compilation features the early promo trailers that were broadcast during March, the first of which was recorded on 23rd March and is one of the earliest airings, quite possibly the very first (it was a full two weeks before the debut).
Other bits and pieces of then-contemporary programmes are trailed, including the all but forgotten Ian Wright game show.
I distinctly remember the announcer telling us that ''Malcolm'' would be back the following year and it feeling like a lifetime away.
