Edel is a young girl born with an ear defect that makes her ears look pointed. Ella faces discomfort, avoiding relationships with people unless this is strictly necessary. The school and its classmates are a nightmare. The only place where she feels happy is in the stables, where her horse Caronta waits for her to come every day, just like her father waited for Edel before he died in a strange incident during the competition. Edel lives with his mother Ginevra. They have a relationship of love and hate: her mother wants her to undergo surgery and she can live a normal life, but after meeting Silvano, a strange school cleaner, she begins to look at her ears differently.
