Information Gathering is the process of obtaining various types of target-related data. In essence, it is the initial phase of ethical hacking, during which penetration testers and hackers (both black hat and white hat) attempt to obtain as much data about the target as possible with the intention of using it for hacking. Increasing the likelihood of a successful attack requires us to get more information about the target in order to produce more relevant outcomes.
