How I make my medical educational videos.
I made a list of 7 steps:
Step 1: Planning. Here, I basically just go through sources and study the topic
Step 2: Making the Presentation. Here, I open PowerPoint and make a presentation about the topic. Doesn't have to be super detailed, as you can add things also later when you edit the video
Step 3: Making a Script. Here I open Word and write a script using my sources, and the presentation I made
Step 4: Script Record/Edit. So here I open Camtasia, and record my script. I just read through my script, and then I use Audiate to edit the recorded audio. You don't need to use Audiate if you don't want to, I just find it convenient.
Step 5: Screencasting. So after I got my edited audio media. I now hit record, press play on the audio, and then I screencast the powerpoint presentation according to the audio.
Step 6: Video Editing. Now, I use Camtasia to make sure the screencasted media fits with the audio media. Then I just have fun with the video editing. Adding pictures, annotations, animations, transitions, and so on.
Step 7: Finalization. So now that the video is finished. I write a short summary for the description, I use Canva to make a thumbnail. I proofread and make sure everything is correct, and so on.
Tips:
The tips I can give you are based on my personal experience throughout the years I've made medical videos.
Tip number 1: Start today, even with no experience or equipment. You really just have to start and go from there.
Tip number 2: Consistency. Keep working on youtube. Give yourself at least 1 hour every day. Doesn't have to be efficient every day, but just set aside time and keep working on the videos. And try to upload consistently.
Tip number 3: Keep looking for ways to improve. You started with no experience. You get experience as you're making the videos. Keep improving and find your style.
Tip number 4: Don't give up. I've had many moments where I wanted to give up, or even when I took a break from YouTube. Just make sure to don't give up. Breaks are okay, but I have plans to come back and continue.
