Kick Snare Hat - Variation
Hey, I see a ride cymbal! Why wasn't it in the title?!!? That's false advertising! :-)
For this video I took my 16" bass drum and mounted it on a snare stand so I could play it with my hands. I also hooked up a double bass pedal to my snare so I could play it with my feet.
Here are a couple of ideas for you if you feel like trying this set up:
1) Play a groove, but try to make it "sound" as if you are playing the bass drum with you foot and your snare drum with your hand(s). This was my approach in this video.
2) Play a groove as you normally would. This is a great way to give the same old beats a brand new sound. Bass drum patterns will now sound like snare drums and snare drum patterns will now sound like bass drums. You'll be amazed at how cool this can sound! I saw my friend Niels Myrner do this and it inspired me to make this video.
This concept definitely messed with my mind, but it was very exciting to approach the drum set in a new way. I hope you enjoy it!
