Captopril is an ACE inhibitor, an inhibitor of angiotensin I converting enzyme. Its main indication is for the treatment of high blood pressure and some cases of heart failure. It was the first ACE inhibitor to enter the market, and is a potent ACE inhibitor with a Kᵢ of 1.7 nM.
