Digital imagery can be categorised in two ways, either as raster or as vector graphics. Raster graphics are the kind of artwork that you would capture with a digital SLR or maybe a smartphone. Things like photographs, and they would typically be edited in applications like Adobe Photoshop.
When it comes to vector graphics, that content is usually always created on a desktop application, such as Adobe Illustrator, and they would typically be things like logos, icons, and symbols. They would contain far less colours than a digital photograph and be more simpler in their nature.
