What Eren Should've Said | Attack On Titan | Cold Heart
[SPOILERS FOR ATTACK ON TITAN]
The ending to Attack On Titan was met with mixed reviews for a few reasons. For one, no story is perfect. There's always something to nitpick with hindsight being 20/20 and there's always differing opinions on what should've or could've happened.
There were a few actual issues, but they're not narrative destroying. There were things some people just wish went different and confuse for actual story issues. There were also some things meant to be discussed no matter if the show ended terribly or absolutely perfect. However, there was a widespread misconception among those who didn't like the interaction between Eren and Armin in the Paths.
During the scenes with him and Armin in the paths, people say that they assassinated his character, made him a whiney simp for Mikasa out of the blue and had no backbone like he did all series long.
I understand where they're coming from. I too loved Edgelord Eren, but I believe that the breaks in-between the chapter releases for the manga and the anime that some people have forgotten certain scenes and themes that connected perfectly to how Eren responded to Armin in the end and what happened with Mikasa.
The key to understanding the Paths scenes is in people's understanding of the subtext of their dialogue. It also lies within a re-watch/re-read of the show/manga.
I know a lot of people don't have that kinda time to rewatch and entire 89 episode (counting the final chapters as two episodes) or 139 chapter manga series so I thought I'd try my best to illustrate the parallels between Eren in the past and Eren in the Paths in a "fun" little music video. I hope people can see what has always been in the story or at the very least understand this point of view. If not, hopefully it was just fun to watch.
