In Gulu, the PACIED facilitated the signing of a 5000MTs of Simsim offtake agreement for Guangzhou, China, with Talanta, a representative of 10,000 farmers in the Acholi sub-region. RDCs, Farmer leaders,

Local government leaders of the eight Acholi districts attended the signing and teaching session at Boma Hotel. When this consignment is completed, the offtake contract will rise to 100,000 MT to support a simsim oil pressing plant in Gulu. A 10,000MT pressing plant to add value requires a minimum of 25,000MT of raw material. The Acholi region produces 31,000 MTs but lacks infrastructure for aggregation, finance, and quality assessment, resulting in low international prices.

This process has begun. I thank our South China Trade Representative, Mr. Victor Zhang and his team, the Chairman of Talanta, Mr. Timothy Jokenne, and our PACIED team of young people who work hard to move our export agenda forward. Keep moving and keep focused, we will get there for our country.
