1978 D doubled IN GOD WE TRUST Die chip reverse Washington Quarter Dollar
In 1965, the coin changed from silver to copper, and I remember the finish feeling a bit flimsy. It has improved a lot recently, but for a long time, I feel like there were many coins where the words IN GOD WE TRUST were not clearly stamped. The IN in particular was not neatly stamped.
I think what makes this coin unique is the IN GOD WE TRUST, D mint mark, and the 8 in 1978. I think it's a matter of personal judgment, so you might wonder why someone would buy something like this, but that's what collectors are like.
This coin has E PLURIBUS UNUM clearly stamped, but many of them are struck quite faintly. The PL is duplicated.
